Candace Owens' Porn Statement Takes Internet by Storm

Candace Owens' social media post condemning pornography has gone viral on X, formerly Twitter.

The conservative commentator, who has publicly spoken out against pornography on a number of occasions, took to the microblogging platform to reiterate her feelings on the billion-dollar industry.

"Ban pornography," the former Daily Wire personality wrote. "It is a psychological weapon intended to weaken our men."

As of press time, the post has garnered more than 3.5 million views in the hours since it was shared. Newsweek has contacted a representative of Owens via email for comment.

The post prompted a debate among a number of X users, with many agreeing with Owens and a number of others challenging her stance.

"I thought you stood for freedom?!" wrote one X user. "Why not allow men to choose for themselves? Why should you decide for us?"

Agreeing with Owens, another stated of pornography: "Ban it. completely. It's 100% top 3 most destructive thing to society."

Hannah Pearl Davis, a conservative commentator who describes herself as an "anti-feminist," counted herself among those offering an opposing view.

If women do not want to have sex with young men, what are the men supposed to do?

Be abstinent until the 30 year old women decide they are ready to have sex with them? https://t.co/TyYfpFSbKW

Davis, an American who is based in the U.K., asked Owens: "If women do not want to have sex with young men, what are the men supposed to do? Be abstinent until the 30-year-old women decide they are ready to have sex with them?"

Responding, Owens wrote: "Lotta guys in the comments here provided you with an answer to your question. lol.

"Because they are men, not perverts—they recognize the ills of pornography. The idea of a woman defending pornography doesn't seem to impress them."

"Men can say one thing for likes, but watch what they do," Davis replied. "Women are not marrying young and there has been an explosion of online sex work. It's a serious question, if women don't want to sleep with young men and young women don't want to get married, [what] do you expect young men to do? Shaming them isn't going to do anything."

Owens, who recently announced that she has converted to Catholicism, has spoken out against pornography and public nudity on a number of occasions.

In a podcast clip titled "Kim Kardashian Should Be Kicked Off Instagram," which debuted on YouTube in September 2022, Owens addressed Instagram's decision to permanently remove the account of pornographic website Pornhub.

While the image-sharing app cited repeated violations of parent company Meta's policies, Owens questioned why Kardashian should keep hers.

"I am actually for the first time going to be Team Pornhub on this," Owens said on her podcast. "Porn is actually everywhere. We're just deciding which standard of porn we're willing to accept.

"Yes, Kim Kardashian posts nude photos all the time, barely covering her nipples, barely covering her private parts, and somehow it's allowed to stand."

Owens also criticized the racy images Madonna has shared on the platform, adding: "All that's allowed on Instagram. As long as you don't show the nipple, you can put whatever pornography that you basically want on Instagram.

"So why come down on the sex workers, who don't make as much money as the billionaire Kardashians, who don't make as much money as Madonna? Why are we coming down [on them]? There either needs to be a real standard, or there should be no double standards.

"We just need to have a real standard to not allow pornography on the internet. So I'm interested to see where that is going to go. Obviously, we know where it's going to go. Kim Kardashian will be protected, Madonna will be protected, and the sex workers will have to face consequences."
