Sheepdog herds a flock of sheep into Devon owner's kitchen

A seven-month-old sheepdog-in-training has made a meal out of his new career after herding a flock of sheep into his owner's kitchen.

Border Collie pup Rocky showed a little too much enthusiasm for his new duties when he led nine sheep through his house and into the lap of his unsuspecting owner.

Rosalyn Edwards, Rocky's owner, had been busy working in the kitchen when she heard a suspicious noise.

On turning around, the mum-of-three said she was stunned to be faced with a flock of the woollen animals.

'I was in the kitchen and heard a noise. I turned around and the sheep were just standing there. There were about nine of them,' said Ms Edwards from Devon.

'My son and husband had gone out into the field, and the gate was left open. Rocky got them out and led them to the house.

Video footage, recorded by one of Ms Edward's children, shows the herd of sheep wedged in the doorway between the kitchen and the living room, while Ms Edwards can be heard trying to shoo them out.

'I took the children into another room and then tried to guide the sheep out. They went right around from the kitchen and left again through the porch,' Ms Edwards continued.

Ms Edwards, 40, who runs a small holding with her husband Andrew, 41, says the flock meandered through the house, trampling muck wherever, before eventually leaving through the porch.

However, she claims she saw the funny side of her eager little sheepdog’s efforts, despite the chaos he caused.

'Rocky did look quite pleased with himself, but he’s going to need more training.

'He brought a whole new meaning to ‘bringing the sheep home.’

'This is the first time he’s done something like this. He’s been out with the sheep before but this time the gate was open.

'The kids thought it was quite funny, too.

'Friends and family have all had the same sort of reaction. Everyone’s been saying they can’t believe they were in the house.'
